BUCKINGHAMSHIRE SITE
MASTERPLAN

We were asked to prepare a feasibility study for a site in Buckinghamshire. 160 traditional homes would be provided with 40% of the total floor area allocated as affordable. The homes would range in size from one bedroom flats to four bedroom houses.   Building heights would vary from 1.5 to 2.5 storeys.

The site is largely rectilinear, following the geometry of the surrounding roads.  There is also currently a water main that runs through the centre of the site.  The combination of these things suggested to us that a roughly orthogonal layout would be appropriate.  The proposed layout therefore draws precedent from historic planned nineteenth examples from the local area.

The main entrance road runs alongside a newly created park and recreation area, passing through the centre of the development, and terminates in a village square.  A perimeter park is also formed along two sides of the development.
