HOUSE NEAR CREWKERNE
ORANGERY - SOMERSET

The client required a garden room attached to their Edwardian manor house, situated near Crewkerne, Somerset. The new classical building adopts an architectural language and materials that are in keeping with the original house, replacing an incongruous and under-utilised garage.

In response to the client's brief, we have created a light and airy space that has the feel of a traditional orangery.  Three arched windows provide afternoon light and views across the extensive front lawn to the south, whilst two smaller windows to the east provide morning light.  A parapet has been introduced containing a new roof with a central glazed lantern.

The building includes reclaimed red bricks as well as keystones and imposts formed in local Ham stone.
