DRUMMOND PARK
MASTERPLAN
LUDGERSHALL, WILTSHIRE

The masterplan forms part of the Drummond Park development on the outskirts of Ludgershall, Wiltshire.  Eighty two homes are provided, ranging in size from one bedroom coach house flats to four bedroom detached houses.  25% of the homes are designated as affordable. There are twelve house types in total, which are adapted to suit each plot.

Following local precedent, the scheme focuses on a central traditional village green.  Streets curve gently in order to create a greater sense of enclosure and to reduce traffic speeds.  Houses are contained within blocks, with most parking spaces being provided in central parking courts.

Houses with deep plans have windows that are tall in order to let light deep into the rooms, whereas those with wide frontages adopt windows that are lower and wide.  The houses employ elements of the local vernacular including flat brick arches, porches, and bay windows.  Local materials are used including flint, red brick, render, natural slate and plain clay tiles.
