NORTON ST PHILIP
MIXED-USE MASTERPLAN
SOMERSET

This project was undertaken in conjunction with Robert Adam at Adam Architecture. It is conceived as an extension to an existing award-winning development designed by them that lies to the south of the historic village.

The proposed development is formed in three distinct areas. The west site includes a community building and twenty-two houses arranged along a lane and around a village green.  The east site includes eleven affordable cottages centred on a small green.  The south site comprises five detached houses fronting on to new parkland.  Each aims to respond to its landscape context and improve connectivity to existing and proposed facilities.

The buildings and streetscape look to the traditional detailing and materials found within the village.  Walls are formed in local stone or stone-coloured render.  Roofs are covered in natural slate or clay double Roman tiles.
