PEN MILL SCHOOL
YEOVIL, SOMERSET

Pen Mill Infant and Nursery Academy caters for boys and girls aged from three to seven years old.  The original buildings were constructed in 1894.

Our proposal creates two new classrooms and associated ancillary spaces by forming a link between two sets of existing buildings.  This extension consists of two rectangular buildings, one facing the street with a gabled roof, and the other behind it with a low pitched zinc sheet roof.  The low roof allows the gable windows of the original main hall to be retained, and also incorporates lanterns and skylights to provide natural light to the spaces below.

The extension will be constructed in traditional materials including red brick with Ham stone dressings.  Windows and doors will be in grey powder coated aluminium.
