VILLAGE EDGE

Much of our masterplanning work focusses on creating urban spaces - streets, squares and greens - but the edge condition of the built fabric where it meets the countryside is also important. In our village housing in Hinton St George, Somerset, we paid particular attention to the way that the new development sat within the existing landscape. Varying ridge heights and a range of natural materials give the scheme a timeless quality. Once the materials have fully weathered and the newly planted trees and hedgerows have grown, the edge condition will feel even softer.
