SANDITON APARTMENTS
SIDMOUTH, DEVON
Sanditon comprises a set of two attached buildings containing 30 spacious apartments. Located in the heart of the Regency resort of Sidmouth, the development takes advantage of the site's prominent position - only 200m from the seafront - by maximising sea views and outdoor living spaces. The open plan living areas are typically double aspect and a central atrium makes the most of natural light.
Situated adjacent to Grade II* listed buildings, the classical scheme draws on elements of the Sidmouth vernacular including metal balconies and verandas, but at the same time recognises the modern desire for large areas of glazing. Materials used include red brick, render, stone dressings, aluminium windows and zinc to the penthouse roofs.
The developer, ZeroC, fully backed the development's sustainability measures which include an array of roof- mounted PV cells, carefully selected materials, and rainwater harvesting.
